"The week spent in Scotland has been memorable and I don't think I have been anywhere as beautiful. Thanks for the brilliant stay and loan of the cot for baby Nicole. A very big thank-you."

"Hi Alan, No worries. I've had a word with the boys and we've decided to shift the trip back one day, so we can stay at Calluna, after all you do have the best drying rooms in the world!"
Jason (Canoe & Kayak UK Magazine)

"This accommodation was very nice. Really felt like a home away from home."
Thomas (New Zealand)
We stayed here for 1 night, it was good accommodation. We stayed in the Alpine Loft (this I would recommend) own kitchen, shower plus able to lock door to room or kitchen, owners very friendly and helpful."
Neil (Scotland)
"Stayed here over Easter. We had the ground floor apartment for 6 people. Very good value accommodation, 2 bedrooms, 1st with 2 x single beds and 2nd with 2 bunkbeds. Comfy beds, good shower, large kitchen with lots of utensils, cheap electricity, nice and warm etc etc.
Owners are very helpful, coming in and fixing any problems immediately. Well recommended, comfy, if a little dated accommodation."Zina (Chelmsford)
"It is a self-catering facility. We were not hickers at all, and still were very well received, the room was clean, as well as the kitchen and the bathrooms. The facility also offers a very cosy sitting room, with TV and a lot of information on the area and Scotland in general. We enjoyed our stay in Calluna very much, it was quiet and the atmosphere was generally peaceful and friendly. Expect one very cute dalmatian to welcome you! Good value for your money."
Paul (Porto)
"Good information about a whole independent hostel group, something I never was informed about in other hostels. The kitchen was very much above standard and well thought out, in fact apart from the Glasgow backpackers probably the best equipt I have used. The overall standard was high."
Cesco (Malta)
"We stayed in one of the 8 person apartments. We were a group of 3 (a couple plus a mate) and planned to do some winter climbing so booked the two twin rooms so as not to disturb the other guests when we got up early.
The apartments are warm, well equipped with heaps of storage space - just perfect for climbers/walkers with lots of kit. The kitchen is a good size and well provided, there's even a cafetiere which is great for helping you wake up at 6am! There's a spacious lounge for relaxing in after a day on the hills.
The hostel also has two excellent drying rooms which means you'll not have to worry about going out with wet kit.
With great facilities and helpful knowledgeable staff I can do nothing else but recommend this hostel for hill goers and non hill goers alike."Fiona (Edinburgh)
"The apartment is clean and spacious and the view from the lounge window is great.”
The Hensman Family (Coventry)
"One of the best I’ve stayed at in the UK. The accommodation was so comfortable, I felt like I was back home”.
Sue and Shannon (Australia)
"Well what can I say the accomodation is fantastic, great big kitchen which had everything you could need if you were cooking whilst there, the view from the living room was fantastic too, over the loch (just wish the wetaher had been nicer to us whilst there), 3 big bedrooms too, one with 2 single beds and the other two with bunk beds in them (only thing if you like loads of pillows, I would take some with you as only one on each bed), but apart form that, the rooms were great, all with under bed drawers for storing your clothes etc, all beds had a small ight above them with wee shelf for your belongings. Decent bathroom and another seperate toilet which is handy when in a big group.
There was also a big cloak room as you came into the house and another storage cupboard with loads of boxed shelfs for all your outdoor gear very handy for bikeing stuff.
There was also a drying room on the grounds too and alock up for your bikes if needed and also a washing machine which was very handy. All in all, this was a great set up and we will definatly be returning again, if up this way.”Jo (Galashiels)
“Spot on for mountain biking and for getting to the downhill course. I will be coming back next year. Thanks Alan.”
Tom (Matlock)
“A really enjoyable week of walking. Accommodation and facilities are excellent. We will return.”
Magee Hillwalking Club (Derry City)
“Best hostel in Fort William. Comfy rooms and great drying rooms.”
Peter (Scotland)
"The Calluna accommodation is in a great spot, short walk into town, owners are very helpful. We were in Fort William to do some mountain biking and the drying rooms and secure bike storage were excellent. There is plenty of car parking on site too. The rooms were basic but suited well to purpose. I would stay again and will recommend it to any friends going to Fort William. Great value accommodation for the outdoors type.”
Gavin (Belfast)
"Owners are mountaineers themselves and helped me with hiking boot repair, orienteering books, even box for mailing unnecessary things home so I wouldn’t have to haul them on backpack trip into hills. Wonderful place."
Flynn (Killarney)
"The week has been gorgeous and the beds were really comfy. Thanks to Alan & Sue for letting us stay, especially after meeting my little brother. Oh yes, I’m really happy they had a TV, so I could see what happened in Big Brother."
Katie (age 9)
