Cleaning Products

We have been using Bio-D cleaning products and laundry liquid for a number of years now and have been very pleased with their performance. But we are always looking for ways to be better. They recycle the 20 ltr plastic containers we buy their products in (not the 5 str containers), but we have to post them back. Our closest stockist is in Inverness, a 2 hour drive away.  We know we could get them delivered direct from the Bio-D website, but we wanted to reduce the delivery miles too.

So, recently we have started moving to Miniml products.  This is because a local company called Scruples will refill our 5ltr and 20ltr containers on our doorstep, using the containers we already have and we don’t need to drive to Inverness.  We also get to support a local company, which is important to us.  We now provide Soap, Shampoo and Body Wash in our bathrooms, these are Miniml products from Scruples too. 

Laundry

We do all our own laundry in house and line dry whenever possible, weather depending… When this isn’t possible, we line dry indoors, and the very last resort is to tumble dry.

Linens and Towels

We don’t replace our linens and towels unless they are past their best, then we donate the towels to our vet or cut them up and use them as cleaning cloths, and the bed linen which still has some life left, to a local charity shop, or the fabric recycling bank.  

Recycling

We provide recycling facilities to all customers.  Each apartment has a recycle bin and a general waste bin, all glass has to be recycled separately and crates are provided outside next to the bins.  We encourage all visitors to recycle considerately, following the instructions of our local Highland Council.  Unfortunately Highland Council do not provide a food recycling service, so at this time we are unable to recycle food waste. 

Leftovers

When customers leave food behind after their stay, we donate anything we can, to the local food bank.
